It is time!!!

18 May 2009

With much relief and excitement, I am proud to present my new blog!!!  Many of you realize that it has been MONTHS since I have posted ANYTHING.  Most of that time was spent looking for the perfect design (which I didn’t find until last week), visitting India, doing ministry, and trying to get married!  Hopefully you will have some mercy for my lack of writing.  Well, here it is!  Let me give you the tour:

Who designed the blog?

Let me give a quick shout out to Human3rror.com for his ‘I Like ContentWordpress theme.  I added my own tweaks of course ;-)

Why the name ‘matholemu’?

In short, that has been my gamer tag for years.  I remember using that name on xbox live, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur’s Gate… it just kind of always was my toon’s name.  It later became my online user name for almost everything.  Since ‘Matt Brown’ seems to be quite popular, I was unable to reserve mattbrown.com or anything similar.  So… matholemu.com was birthed!

Why the phrase ‘Rise A Knight’?

Well… this phrase came from one of my all time favorite movies Kingdom of Heaven.  Balian took every ordinary man who was willing to fight and dubbed him a knight.  When I think of knights, I think of loyalty, chivalry, and war.  And then, I came across verses like 1 Timothy 1:17, Deuteronomy 32:41-42, and Revelation 19:11-19.

There is just something about swords and arrows and armor and charging into battle that gets my blood pumping!  Scripture tells us that we are in a spiritual war. I want to be the one answering the call when Christ asks, “Who can stand?!”

Jesus is my King. I will remain loyal and faithful to His leadership.  I will fight for Him even to my death.  And I wear my shining armor for my damsil in distress (that would be my new bride, Kelly).

And to make it even better, this phrase is engraved on the inside of my wedding band!

The vision of this blog

My goal for this blog is to write good content that allows you the opportunity to know me.  The focus of my writings will be on leadership, discipleship and issues men face.  I have a heart for building men of radical integrity, relentless love, and servant leadership.  Plus, you may get a few random tid bits of your’s truly.

What’s with the bird?
