After the chaos…

Ever since Christmas, my blogging has been seriously neglected.  AS IT SHOULD!  There were just more important things that I wanted to give my attention to over the holiday season.  I talked to some other guys about their time “off” and all of them went wide open the whole time.  Does anyone actually take a vacation during Christmas vacation?  But what happens AFTER all the busyness?  What happens AFTER the family members are gone, the celebrations are over, the constant going and doing have passed… until now… where you can finally sit and enjoy some peace and quiet, a little R&R… what happens now?

Remember the Trojan war from Greek Mythology?  The Greeks left a nice little parting gift in the form of a horse.  The Greeks fled the scene and the Trojans took the horse in as a victory trophy.  After all the celebrating was over… after all the cookies baked… after all the egg nog finished off… the citizens of Troy rested.  Well, the Greeks had hid inside the horse.  They made a surprise attack on the sleeping Trojans and destroyed the city.

One of the most common ways people avoid temptation is to just keep busy.  If your mind is occupied on everything else, it doesn’t have time to be tempted.  I have heard of and experienced my own victory stories during the holiday seasons.  But what now?  When the whispers of Satan come in the silence of an empty house, what do you do?  When you can finally sit on your couch and watch tv in peace and quiet, how are you prepared for attack?

We see from the Trojans that when the party is over and everyone is resting, that’s the prime time to attack! Satan knows this all to well with my life.

How do you guys shatter temptation in the midst of idleness?  I even think God had a few words about people who are idle.
