Back in action

My apologies for the lack of posts last week.  I still love you guys!  I almost entitled this post “Back in the saddle” but I know how much some of our fellow Rockstars (who’s names I will not mention but their initials are Kevin Childs, Jerimiah Pensinger, David Motyl, and Dirk Derrick) would have enjoyed that.

Ok, back to the important stuff.

Most churches have a mission/vision statement.  To be honest, I haven’t been to one, yet, that doesn’t.  At The Rock, our’s is  ”Love God, Love People, Do Something About It.”  Simple, Biblical, easy to remember, and to the point.  I don’t think it gets any easier or any more important than that.  It combines the two most important commandments ( mark 12:28-31 ) and the Great Commission ( Matthew 28:19-20 ).

Here’s my point: “Where there is no vision, the people perish…”  _Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

As a church, we understand the importance of having a goal to aim at.  We understand the impact of having all the members on the same page, headed in the same direction.  Jesus “set his face like a flint” aimed toward Jerusalem.  You can think of a flint as a pointed rock, almost like an arrowhead.  A flintstone has a point.  It is aimed at something.  Jesus was aimed at Jerusalem.  He had direction for his steps and he was determined to get there.  He had vision.

Recently, I had my world ROCKED!  Kelly and I went to our first pre marital counceling a couple weeks back.  Her pastor asked us to think of a verse to be the mission statement for our marriage.  Just last week, I heard Lloyd Reeb speak on having a mission statement for your personal life.  I NEVER thought of such things!  It completely opened my eyes to a whole new light.

So my question for you guys this morning is:  What is the mission statment, the goal, the vision of your church, marriage, and/or yourself?

OK, first, the monster isn’t at the KatHouse. Secondly, real men don’t drink Decaf. Just trying to help.
