Wednesday Morning Aftermath

In: Monday Morning Aftermath

30 Jul 2008

Normally I take some time out on Monday to recap the events from Sunday.  Well, to be honest, I was just lazy and worn out from our Katalyst Retreat.  I couldn’t have put it any better than Kevin did here.  Here’s some notes I took from service on Sunday:

  • How can you KNOW that you are saved?
  • God wants you to know!  1 John 5:13
  • Kevin was a “Jock-strap-hander-outer”
  • We tend to do whatever it takes to reach “OUR” goals.
  • There are so many people when asked if they are going to heaven respond with “I hope so.”  I just am not willing to secure my eternity on a hope.
  • God loves me when I suck!  (add that’s pretty often)
  • In our times of strife, depression, and struggle satan likes to hit us with questions like:
    • Where is God now?
    • How do you know there is a God?
    • Every religion has a book.  The bible is just campfire stories and myths.
    • Everybody in any religion has faith!  Muslims have faith.
  • Jesus was confronted by satan while walking through a desert and not eating for 40 days.  Jesus stood strong, and satan eventually left him alone.  Matthew 4:10-11
  • Nobody has “always” been a Christian.  We were born sinners!
  • Salvation isn’t about a feeling.  If it was, we’d just show Lifetime movies every Sunday!  We’d get every woman in Conway saved!
  • Some things I’m willing to die for, a lie is not one of them.
  • Admit – you are a sinner, Jesus is not a self help book, you suck at running your own life.
  • Believe – He has all the strength you need, none of us have enough “us” strength to live it out, Jesus died to cover our sins.
  • Commit – Give your life to Him, No change = No Jesus.

Love the comment about the Lifetime channel.

Why can’t people just see and understand how easy it is for them to KNOW God and KNOW for sure where they will spend eternity. Why don’t they want to?
